Windsurfing weblog
Hi
After returning back to reality…..work days….i will make a final report of our trip to Dahab…
Going (BA/TAP):
As we are from Portugal there is no direct flight so we had to go via London and then do the transfer to Sharm el Sheik.
Accommodation (Dahab Holidays Apartments):
After weeks looking for an hotel we found a site (www.dahabholidays.com ) that offered accommodation at a nice house with a very good price. This site and accommodations are managed by a British couple, Toby and Fiona.
They were fantastic with us, everything was arranged by e-mail, from the airport transfer to the accommodations, the starter kit (milk, bread, eggs, coffee, etc) till the renting of the windsurfing kit.
The house was fantastic, two bedrooms with a kitchen and a bathroom. We also had a nice garden where we had our breakfast. The house is very good, clean with nice furniture and free internet. They also gave us a lot of tips, where to eat, where to go, etc. Next to the house there is a supermarket where you can buy your stuff to cook at home if you want.
The house is located in a very calm zone, just a 3 minute walk to the beach and windsurf center.
Thanks Toby and Fiona for everything, we will be back for sure!!!!
This is a picture with me, Toby and Fiona:

Windsurfing:
Fucking fantastic!!!! We windsurfed every day, in 7 days of holidays there were planning conditions for 6 days and cruising conditions for 1 day, so I can tell that I never sailed so many days in a row!!!! My hands and body got really messed up JJJJ but it felt so good JJJ
With the help of Fiona we rented our kit from Harry Nass windsurf center, top material in boards and sails. The staff was also very friendly and funny guys had a lot of fun with them between the breaks on the water….
The best spot to start sailing is the Harry Nass center 3, inf front of the Dahabeya hotel, you can reach the speedy area direct from the beach without tacking up and down….
The wind is constant, the water flat and hot JJJJ
Eating:
We went out every night to the center of Dahab, Masbath, to have dinner and shop, fantastic restaurants to eat, no problems with the food very clean and well presented. Shopping is fun as you have to bargain everything with the local guys…..very cool….
Don’t forget to bargain also the price for the taxi fare…..it´s around 10 EGP to get to town but they always want 20 EGP
Perfect sports holidays for the family as there is also a lot of lessons for beginners, intermediate windsurfers and advanced ones can also be cool as there is always a lot of rescue boats on the water and you go out with a hand radio!!
Finally:
If you want to bring your family it´s perfectly safe for everyone….me and my friends walked every night trough the town, the beach and the streets and never had a problem….everyone is very friendly and nice!!!!
Help me…..another windsurfing day……lol…….the last day in Dahab
:(:(:( no….i want to go home, i miss my wife and kids
My hands and feet are all taped…..big blisters…..lot of pain….but i had a lot of fun!!!!!
In 7 days we were in the water 7 but windsurfing hard for 6 days!!!!! My body needs a break…..lol
Today i was out on the same kit all day long NP Excess 7.4m sail and a JP X-city 120 L….sometimes over powered in the speedy area…
At the end of the day we said goodbye to the windsurf guys and some friends we made windsurfing……everyone is friendly in windsurfing!!!!
Now it´s time to pack and rest……hoping that next year i can come back…..
Today only photos again…because i dont have time, pacience or hands to edit the videos i made…..lol

Another day….another windsurfing day……cant ask for more…..
In the morning i went out with a NP RS Racing 8.4m sail and a JP Super Sport 126l in 16 to 18 knots………what fucking power 4 reaches of 2 km each and i was completely wasted……so back to shore to change for a NP Excess 7.4m sail and sail until the rest of the morning……
Then break for eat, coffee and cigars and at 3 PM back to the water with a NP Excess 7.4m sail and a JP X-Cite 120l……in 18 to 20 knots…..in the speedy area i was full powered up sometimes overpowered but it was great…..a lot of fun…
Today I’m so wasted that i don’t have the energy enough to edit some video so only photos….sorry guys…I will do that later
In the Morning

In the Afternoon

Nuclear wind today!!!!
Around 30 knots but gusting to 35 / 38 in some areas from 9.oo AM until 18.00……
So in the morning i was sailing……i mean getting thrown around in a JP 100l Board a NP Combat 5.0m sail…….this was rough for my body…..my friends were also wasted in the morning because the wind was so gusty….
After rest and lunch the wind was more stable and i went out in a JP 110L and a NP Firefly 5.3m sail…..perfect…..well nearly perfect, sometimes……. a lot of times … lol … i was overpowered but doing full (WARP…..lol) speed reaches in the speedy area were the wind is stronger, the water more flat and not so gusty……..never lost control….despite some big chop……..thank God!!!
Tried to do some gybes but always crashed as you can see in the video
António and João also had a blast in the afternoon, until there body broke in exhaustion……. lol
Some small videos and photos to check out the fun we had today:
Full speed downwind

Trying to surf the small wave

Resting

Fuck
Today was a no wind day!!!!! Well not at all, there was a little breeze in the morning so off to the beach rig big but it wasn’t wind enough to be planning around…..
So I took some time off to improve our stance and rig handling in very light winds….it was cool……not so cool as planning at full speed up and down…. JJJJ
Then beers and pizza again…..to relax….
Some photos of the windless day (Just cruising around….lol) :

Hello
It´s me again…..once more we woke up in the morning had a huge breakfast and of to the windsurf center…….wind again……UPIIII…these days we are having wind blowing between 12 and 20 knots…..fantastic weather….i hope before we leave the wind will come up to 25 or 30 knots so I can try out the small freestyle wave JP boards….they look awesome…
We rigged big 8.2 m sail a JP Super Sport 127 L and of to the water…..2,5 hours of fun….very good time indeed……the wind was steady and you could do more than 2Km reaches back and forth…..
:):):)
After that the wind came done and so time to go to the beach for pizza and beers…..once again…..and rest for the rest of the day….it was a no wind afternoon
:(:(:(…..but my hands and body liked this break….
Some photos of me fooling around waiting for wind…….and windsurfing

Hi
Another report of the day….today we woke up late because we didnt sleep on the arrival day….so about 11.00AM we were up and ready to go to the beach…UPIII
After arriving i took out a NP Hellcat 8,2m sail and a 118 JP Super Sport but it was to much wind for this big sail…..so back to the windsurf center to trade for a NP Excess 7,4m and out to the water…..perfect!!!!
Just up and back gliding around and having fun like a kid…..it´s so great to feel the freedom of being in the sea and the wind in your face….
After Pizza and beers again…..this is getting an habit
:):)

Hi
After a big journey and time wasted in airports we finally arrived at Dahab, 7.0 AM……wind was blowing….YESSSSSS……so after unpacking the basics we were of to the beach……got everything treated with the windsurf center and water…..hot water!!!!!
:):
We took NP Hellcat 8,2 meters sail and JP Super Sport 118 Boards and spent the morning in the water……great!!!
After a break for water and coffee the wind was a little bit stronger….so of to the water again…..same sails but with 130L boards…..very good afternoon…..gliding through the turquoise water was fantastic…..then they wind came done a little so i and Antonio that is was enough and went of to pizza and beer
:):) Joao staid in the water for more 1 hour…..
Greast first day….

Well
After windsurfing on 13 of March for the first time and with the wind previsions looking good i told my family that i couldn’t loose this day……so after eating something i got on the way to my usual spot….Cabedelo, Viana do Castelo, Portugal.
When i arrived Rui Cruz and Pedro Camera were already in the water……so after seeing the conditions me and João Leitão, that also had arrived, rigged 7.0m sails and of to the water……great time….the wind was perfect in a range between 18 and 22 knots and the water very flat….so 2 hours of freeriding and i was ready to de-rigg and eat a huge hot dog…..before heading home very broken down…..after 2 consecutive days windsurfing….YES!!!!!
I´ve done a video with my new camera, but its not great because I was riding in to the sun and I had fog on the lens…. LLL:
Hi
I´m back with my posts after being out mainly because the lack of wind
:(:(
But finaly this weekend the wind came back…..upiiiiii…..thank God
The day was shinny and the wind blowing for 6 or 6,5m. I rigged my new Neilpryde Hellcat 6,2 and went of to the water, made a couple of runs and puffff…..the energy was gone….I’ve been missing the workouts…….so i was in a bad shape, got tired quickly….so straight to the beach to rest….
After a break, a tuna sandwich, water, coffee and a cigar back to the water……..another couple of runs and pufff……..tired again……..so i decided it was time to de-rig and rest for tomorrow…
As usual mu friends were out with me having a blast!!! What a bunch of nice guys!!! Thanks for your support….lol
Ah….I’ve received my Go Pro HD and made some shootouts with it mounted on the front of the boom…..here is the result:
