Windsurfing weblog
Hi
This Sunday i went windsurfing to Cabedelo, as usual, the wind was blowing around 25 to 30 knot so i took out my NP 5.0m sail and my Starboard Futura 100 L……there were a lot of people on the water blasting up and down and doing some great jumps on the huge and confused choppy that was messing around.
On one of my reaches I was planning around and having fun when suddenly I was catapulted in the air and into the water….when I came to surface I just said “what the fuck happened”…….lol…….fortunately me, the board and the sail were well just a bit shaken up…
A little video of the crash:

As i started to have more equipment i started in thinking that at a end of the year it would be great to know which would be the ones most used.
So better than thinking i put hands on and made out a Excel Spreadsheet where I put down every detail from each day I’m on the water windsurfing.
At the end of the year i will have information like:
If you want do download it and use it feel free.
After one week of intense work i was hoping i could have a windsurfing Saturday in full!!!
But the wind didn’t collaborate so me, Rui and António went out on big equipment just for fun and workout…..handling a big camber 8.0m sail works your muscles…..lol
As the day was very warm and nice my wife and kids also came to the beach and had a great time!!!
Just a video and a picture of the day:

The medics told me that i should stay one week without doing sports because of my back muscular problem…..but the wind and conditions were to good to pass….so i put in some pain killers and of to the spot….lol
The wind was blowing hard….25 to 35 knots…the sea was rough…..but these were the conditions that I was waiting for a long time o test my Starboard Futura 101 L.
I rigged a 5.0m NP sail and of to the water, first with the 34cm Drake Fin and then changed to a 30cm Drake Fin. It was great time spent on the water training, testing and adapting to the board….it’s very nervous and fast and it goes well through the chop and swell…
All the guys were in the water blasting around in the rough conditions, some equipment breakage, I saw at least one boom and two masts.
It was a great day on the water but now, Monday, I’m in pain, more pills in….. lol
A video testing the board……not so great quality or shooting:

For me this was one of the most shity days of this year…….i woke up with a big pain on my back and had to go to the Hospital at 7.0AM…….diagnostics……..muscular problem in my back……F$#?!%&#…..one week without doing any kind of sport and on pills!!!!
So after having lunch I went to Cabedelo to meet my windsurfing friends and stayed on the beach taking some photo and making some videos.
It is very painful to see everyone having a blast and you on dry land…..f&$#”%&?!…..

Here is the video (i hope you like it as much i did):
Hi
On the 1st of May one of our windsurfer friends, Jaime, got rescued by the harbour boat that was passing by.
Jaime was out windsurfing when is up haul rope broke….as he cant water start yet (stop being lazy and learn Jaime) he was taken by the current and the wind out to sea, while drifting out he saw one of the buoys the delimiter the navigation area for big ships…..he struggled towards it and finally hang on it as if he was fighting for his life… lol
After 30 minutes grabbing the buoy the harbour boat was passing by and saw him waving his hands for rescue….the guys of the boat were fantastic…they picked him up and brought Jaime and is kit back to the beach…all in one piece!!!
After all no damage done, only lots of swimming and struggling in the water…lol
There are two videos that Sérgio Queirós and Pedro Lemos made of the boat brining Jaime and kit back to the beach:
Hello There
As predicted by windguru this was a great windsurfing day….lots of friends on the water…i think it was the day of this year that there were more windsurfers on the water….around 30 i think….that’s great for the sport!!!
As i arrived at 12h00 the wind was starting to pick up….i waited until 13h00 to start rigging, as the wind was up and down i rigged Neilpryde Hellcat 6,2 and Neilpryde V6 7.om…
After thinking a while and watching the first guy int the water, Rui Cruz, as usual, i picked up the 7.0m and went of….after some reaches the wind picked up more so i had to change to 6,2 first with my Fanatic Shark LTD 130 L and then with my Starboard Futura 101 L…
Sometimes the wind was very strong but i managed to have some time on my 101 L board to adapt to here….she is very nervous and fast so I must get the feel of this speeding machine….
At the end of the day some of the guys went to the bar for some earned food and drinks……
No photos or videos today…. sorry…. had problems with fog in the camera…..fuck!!!!
So I name some of my friends on the water today (Thank guys for having fun together!!!):
Rui Cruz, João Leitão, Jaime Pedro, Filipe Barbot, Mario Fernandes, Eva Tome, Zé Americano, Pedro Camera, Carlos Oliveira, Sérgio Queiroz, João Silva, etc…
