Windsurfing weblog
Hi there
Yesterday, 26 June of 2010, I went to my usual spot to windsurf once more.
I arrived at 13h00 and went to eat something with João Leitão before hitting the water……while we were eating the wind was picking up and was around 30 knots, so we finished eating in a hurry and of to rig….
I rigged my NP Solo 5.om sail and got out my Starboard Futura 101 L but as i hit the water the wind came down….FUCK!!!!!
So back to the beach….after I came in and was thinking in rigging a bigger sail the wind came up again….so back to the water….but the wind came down again…FUCK!!!!!
Back to the beach again and for sure i went to get my NP Hellcat 6.2m sail and rigged it…quickly and hit the water…..perfect……upssss…….not enough fin…….so i went back again and trade my Drake 30cm to a Drake 34cm fin and back to the water….let’s do a reach to test the kit….finally everything seems tuned!!!
Now it’s the perfect combo – Futura 101 L and NP Hellcat 6.2m with wind around 20 to 25 knots….had a blast and lots of fun for 3 hours….YES!!!!
You can watch and enjoy a video a made of the day:

Hi
I´m posting a video of my friend João Leitão windsurfing in Dahab in March 2010.
He was using a JP Slalom board and a Neilpryde RS Racing 8.4m sail rented in Harry Nass, he was doing reaches up and down speedy área.
Watch and enjoy:

This weekend was super…very windy all day long!!!!
On Saturday i went out soon because the wind was supposed to pick up very strong…….so i went out at 12h30 with 5.0m sail and my Futura 101 L board and had a blast and lots of fun until 14h30…then the wind picked + 35knots and i came out for lunch and didn’t return because the wind stayed strong until the end of the day…
On Sunday i also went soon because the wind also supposed to pick up very strong in the afternoon….so out with my usual kits I’ve been using mostly these days NP 5.0m Sail and Futura 101 L and had lots of fun……fortunately the wind didn’t pick up as announced so i took everything i could and was on the water since 13h00 until 16h30….of course with some breaks for energy bars and water….lol
Summing it up it was a very good windsurfing weekend with my friends on the water….as the temperature rises there is more people on the water each weekend……windsurf is not dead in our spot!!!

There is a new board on the block from starboard to beat the world speed record next year.
iSonic Super Speed Special W44
Full Carbon with the following measures: 230 X 44
A picture:
The wind today was so bad….gusty….up and down…shifty…all shity things you can imagine that i only had one hour on the water with my Futura 100 L and 5.0 m sail and very uncomfortable!!!!
The only thing else i have to say is expressed on the following photo:
Well
I managed to get 2 hours of windsurfing today but in shifty and gusty conditions.
The sky was dark when i arrived and the wind going from 10 to 20 knots just in 2 seconds…..i decided to rig my Neilpryde 8.0m sail and took my Fanatic Shark 130 L and went out for 2 hours.
There was also some of my usual friends out on the water…..when going out it was great, you could start planning from the beach until the south peer, but when coming back, it was slogging conditions and also with a lot of current as the tide was lowering.
Let’s expect for better conditions for tomorrow….
Hi
As previewed the wind was howling today!!!
All day long more than 25 – 30 knots and in some periods of the afternoon the wind was around 35 – 40 knots with gusts at 48knot as you can see in the picture below, a print screen from the VianaLocals weather station:
I hesitated in going in as my smallest sail is 5.0m but when you are on the spot and seeing everyone having a blast you can resist….lol
So i went in for an hour between 5.0 and 6.0 and sailed much overpowered with my 5.0m sail and 100 L board, always in the limit of taking off and crashing bad….I’ve never been so afraid on the water…lol
Before i went in i went to the wave spot and took some shots of some top windsurfers sailing, the first shot is Victor from Waira, a windsurf shop in Spain that is run by Marta:
Hello
This big weekend is being great, until now I’ve windsurfed three days in a row:
Thursday: Wind for 7.0m sail and a 130 L, i sailed around 4 hours
Friday: Wind for 5.0m sail and a 100 L, i sailed around 2 hours
Saturday: Wind for 7.0m sail and a 130 L, i sailed around 3 hours
On these days i´ve been trying to finally start gybing….on Thursday and Saturday i was with my go pro camera so i made a video of all the missed gybes….lol…..i haven’t done one with success yet…but my goal is until the end of this year having it dominated….let see
