After i bought it some days ago i now had the chance to test it with perfect conditions for it, 7.0m weather.

So i rigged my Neilpryde V6 7.0m sail, connected to the new board and off to the water.

First Impressions:

1 – Very Early Planner

2 – Very stable

3 – Very Fast

4 – Turns fast and sharp

5 – Eats the chopp

6 – Goes very well upwind using the production fin

I´m very impressed with the quality of this board!!!!

It was hard to get but finally i bought my new toy – the Starboard Futura Wood 122 L 2010

As i started my official vacations on 9^th of August and the wind predictions were looking great I windsurfed for 5 days in a row, mainly using a 5.0m or 6.2m sails and my Futura 101 L board.…..i had a lot of fun and trained a lot to start doing my gybes……not yet nailed….…I’ve only got one completed.….more time on water to dominate this move…..

Now it´s time to go on vacations with my family so I will be out until the 26^th of August and will return to windsurf a few days before start working again….

Today 2 hours of windsurf and 30 minutes of swimming with the kit back to the beach, the wind came down so I had to swim home…..good workout though…. :):)

I went out on the Starboard Futura 101 L and a NP Hellcat 5,2 and had a blast for 2 hours when suddenly the wind drop drastically….

I didn’t think it dropped so much so I stayed training my gybes…..unfortunately I missed a gybe exactly where there was no wind at all…..obviously I couldn’t water start and the board is to short to uphaul a big sail…..so I had to swim for 30 minutes to get to the beach……I came out dragged and after 20 minutes the wind came up again….fuck….so out again for more training but I  was to wasted so I decided to close the day…..

Tomorrow more wind….YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! See you on the water!!!!

The kit i used today:

After the last weekend that i had to stay on the beach because the wind was brutal…….near 50 knots….this weekend, especially Saturday i had a great time on the water.

I picked my brother in law Starboard Futura 122 L and my NP Hellcat 6.2 sail and went for 3 hours of windsurfing, I had to take a big board because near the beach and for the first 300 meters there was little wind so we had to struggle to get out there….but once you were out the wind was strong and very stable without major holes….and flat water

This was a great day for as i did my first complete gybe…..YES!!!! I got the sucker in….unfortunately i missed the next 20 gybes……shit….but as my friends told me that I had done the most difficult task, do the first one to start dominating the technique from end-to-end…

So I hope that my personal goal for 2010 (do at least 1 out of each 4 gybes) will come true until the end of the year….just have to train more……much more!!!!

I love so much this board that i´m going to post another video, filmed in July 2010, of me riding it….so you can check how easy and user-friendly it can be handling it….and the speed you can obtain with it:

This weekend was a complete disaster for me…..in terms of windsurfing of course…

On Saturday it was a completely windless day so I went to the beach with my kids to spend some time with them as this summer is being very windy and I’m often windsurfing in the weekend and not spending time with them like a normal Father would do……hey…..but who said I’m normal

On Sunday the predictions were looking awesome so I woke up early and fixed everything up to arrive early at the beach…
When I arrived around 12h00 PM the wind was blowing like hell already around 30knots, but I was feeling hungry and went for a sandwich at Aquario Bar……by the time I was finished, around 13h00 PM, the wind was already around 35knots and growing……so I started rigging my 5.0m sail but before I finished the guys that were on the water came out to pick their 4.0m sails…..

…….as my smallest sail is 5.0 I decided to de-rig and stay on the beach watching the guys having a blast and getting trashed in insane conditions with the wind around 40 knots with gusts at 50 knots…….fucking crazy and insane…..

So no windsurf for me this weekend…..

This Sunday afternoon something unusual happened, because of the fires on the mountains of Viana do Castelo the two Canadair airplanes had to come to our windsurfing and kitsurfing spot to pick up water to take out the fire.

This is a video made by a guy that was on the beach watching….it´s scaring seeing the big bugs picking up that amount of water near you and making all that noise….the guys that fly these thing must have big balls!!!
