First Windsurf day of 2013!!!

Finally i windsurfed in 2013!!!

IT has been a long winter with lots of rain and cold…..without the early NW winds that usually would come in 1 or 2 days in January and 2 or 3 days in February.

Well this year it only happened In the middle of March!!! It´s better late than never!!!

After all week looking at the weather predications hoping that the sunny and windy Sunday would come true!!!

On Saturday we had a very cold and rainy day giving little hope for Sunday but when I woke up and open the window there it was a sunny Sunday with NW breeze starting to fill in!!!

So after some e-mails and phone calls the usual wind junkies made the trip (small) to the spot, Cabedelo, Viana do Castelo, north of Portugal!!!

When I arrived the windy was starting to get stable but Rui Cruz was already out testing the conditions!!! I thought it was early yet to go out….I prefer more clean and stable wind!!!

So went to the Bar, Viana Locals to have a bit on a hamburger and check out some gear!!!

When I got back the wind now was great on the spot!!! So I rigged my NP Hellcat 6.2 and took my Futura 122L!!! In the begging of the season I prefer to go out with a bigger sail and board for extra security because we have lots of currents from all the rainy days!!!

In this time of year it´s better to be overpowered than underpowered!!!

There were some friends, around 10, on the freezing water!!!

We all had a blast and declared the season finally opened in our spot!!!

Let the sunny and windy days begin!!!
